Kahuna Bodywork

Lomi Lomi (Ke Ala Hoku) is a healing art practiced by the native Hawaiians, in the temples of Hawaii for the shaman or kahuna. They believed that physical discomfort and disease were the results of suppressed emotions, mental disturbances or spiritual disharmony.

This Hawaiian system of massage/dance utilizes very large, wide movements and pressure working with the body’s natural flow and rhythm, to bring the body back into balance, rejuvenation and instill a deep sense of peace, harmony and well-being.

Two-handed forearm and elbow application of strokes, which cover a wide area, is characteristic of Lomi Lomi. Herbalized Oils are used in the application of cross-fiber friction techniques. This system uses prayer and the acknowledgment of the existence of a higher power as an integral part of the technique.
