In the nineteenth century Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered Reiki, the method of laying-on-hands healing used by Jesus and Buddha, found traces of ancient esoteric teachings of Shiva in India and Tibet.
The fact is that the traditional story of Reiki begins with Mikao Usui.

Dr. Mikao Usui, a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism, had an enlightenment experience at the top of Mount Kurama, near Kyoto after 21 days of meditation, prayer and strict fasting. Dr. Usui rediscovered the techniques to do this and make a method available to any person in 1920.

It says it reached a moment of divine enlightenment (Satori) and received a kind of cosmic attunement. He was sat in special position to meditate or pray, kneeling (seiza) probably doing the meditation of the Morning Star and reciting a mantra to connect with the Divine, his whole body began to vibrate and suddenly felt an intense white light coming toward him. Despite fears, he remained calm and light impact on his crown chakra.

At that moment stood still, and his mind, for a instant, reached the total liberation from suffering and the understanding of reality, there was the Reiki symbols. Upon awakening from his Satori fully satisfied with the experience and considering he had already served its purpose, returned to the city.

After the first healing miracles and his return from the sacred mountain Kurama, heals his friend the abbot, who then advised him to open a clinic in Kyoto for the homeless and beggars in the slums of the city. There, for a time was devoted to healing the poor.
Finally, noting that people once had healed his body returned to his old way of life without changing your way of being, Dr. Usui acknowledged that without channeling the mind and the spirit of his patients could not achieve lasting and authentic cures. Then decided not to give Reiki to anyone who could not value it, and began to travel throughout Japan. He dedicated the last years of his life to teaching this healing art, and initiating others to their method of natural and ancestral healing.
Months later he founded his first Clinic-School Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai in Shizuoka near Tokyo, dictating the first workshop there was the beginning of the implementation of its system of healing.

In 1923 after the devastating earthquake in Tokyo in the Kanto region, Dr. Usui decides to go to the capital and founded his second clinic in the area of Harajuku, Tokyo to help survivors using healing art of Reiki.
His reputation quickly spread throughout Japan and began to receive invitations from many regions to teach his method in Kure, Hiroshima, Saga, etc, among others. In 1926 when he was in Fukuyama, a town near the capital of Japan, Master Usui died at the age of 62 years of a heart attack.
Usui Master in his notbook said he had 2,000 students, their first 4 students with the level of Shinpiden: Mr. Ushida, Mr. Taketomi, Mr. Watanabe and Mr. Kondo. Dr. Chujiro Hayashi was taught by this first generation of Reiki masters.

After the death of Mikao Usui, Dr. Hayashi became independent and formed Hayashi Reiki Kenkyukai Asociation. Later Hawayo Takata went to Japan from Hawaii to receive medical treatment for a serious illness, is completely healed by Reiki treatments, and started to learn this ancient healing art of Dr. Hayashi. Later Dr. Hayashi went to Hawaii to give lectures on Reiki and named Hawayo Takata teacher, who continued to work with Reiki healing and form 22 teachers in Hawaii. She was the first to practice and spread Reiki in the West.

Dr. Usui is described by Mr. Frank Arjava Petter in his book: Reiki, The Legacy of Dr. Usui and Reiki Fire, as a warm, humble, simple, and healthy man, always with a smile on his face; with a strong spirit to cope adversity, loved to read and his knowledge of medicine, psycologia, theology and world religions was extensive. This continuous habit of acquiring knowledge, helped him see and understand Reiki.

Currently, there are thousands of Reiki masters in the world within two lines, Western and Japanese. This Art of Universal Energy has been widely used by all esoteric and Eastern schools and continues to evolve.
Western Reiki is characterized by active cooperation with medical institutions, as a complementary effective technique to conventional medicine. Western Reiki is achieving outstanding results in the healing of the mind and body.

There are a number of schools that have incorporated Reiki with various forms of meditation which aims to raise awareness of the practitioner, and although each has its own ways to teach and is named according to their culture, the essence of Reiki healing art, never is lost.

BREVE HISTORIA DEL REIKI

En el siglo XIX el Dr. Mikao Usui redescubrió Reiki, el método de curación por imposición de manos utilizado por Jesus y Budha, encontrado en antiguos vestigios de la enseñanza esotérica de Shiva, en la India y en Tibet.

Lo cierto es que la Historia Tradicional de Reiki inicia con Mikao Usui.

El Dr. Mikao Usui, practicante de Budismo Tibetano, tuvo una experiencia de iluminación en la cima del monte Kurama, cerca de Kyoto tras 21 días de meditación, oración y un estricto ayuno. El Dr. Usui redescubre las técnicas para hacerlo y crea un método al alcance de cualquier persona en 1920.

Se dice que alcanzó un momento de iluminación divina (Satori) y recibió una especie de sintonización cósmica, que estando sentado en posición especial para meditar u orar, de rodillas  (seiza) posiblemente realizando la meditación de La Estrella de la Mañana y recitando un mantra para conectarse con la Divinidad, todo su cuerpo empezó a vibrar y repentinamente percibió una intensa luz blanca que se dirigía hacia él. A pesar del temor, permaneció sereno y la luz impacto en su chakra Corona.

En ese momento quedó inmóvil, y su mente, por unos instantes, alcanzo la liberación total del sufrimiento y la compresión de la realidad, ahí recibió los simbolos Reiki. Al despertar de su Satori, plenamente satisfecho con la experiencia y considerando que ya había cumplido su objetivo, regresó a la ciudad.

Después de las primeras curaciones milagrosas tras su regreso del monte sagrado Kurama, sana a su amigo el abad, quien posteriormente le aconsejó abrir en Kyoto un dispensario para indigentes y mendigos en los barrios pobres de la ciudad. Allí, durante un tiempo, se dedicó a la curación de los pobres.

Por fin, observando que la gente una vez que había sanado su cuerpo volvía a su antiguo modo de vida, sin cambiar su forma de ser, el Dr. Usui reconoce que sin encauzar la mente y el espíritu de sus pacientes no podía lograr curaciones duraderas y auténticas. Entonces decidió no dar Reiki a nadie que no supiera valorarlo, y comenzó a viajar por todo Japón, dedicando los últimos años de su vida a la enseñanza de este arte curativo, e iniciando a otros a su método de curación natural y ancestral.

Meses después decide fundar su “primer Consultorio- Escuela” USUI REIKI RYOHO GAKKAI en la provincia de Shizuoka cerca de Tokio, dictándose allí el primer taller que fue el inicio de la puesta en práctica de su sistema de sanación.

En 1923 despues del devastador terremoto de Tokyo en la región de kanto, el maestro Usui decide ir a la capital y funda su “segundo consultorio” en la zona de Harajuku, Tokyo para ayudar a los sobrevivientes utilizando el arte de curación Reiki.

Su fama de extendió rápidamente por todo el Japón y comenzó a recibir invitaciones de muchas regiones para enseñar su método en Kure, Hiroshima, Saga, etc, entre otras. En 1926, cuando se encontraba en Fukuyama, pueblo cercano a la capital de Japón, fallece el Maestro Usui a la edad de 62 años de un ataque al corazón.

El maestro Usui en su libro de anotaciones señaló que tuvo 2.000 estudiantes, siendo sus primeros 4 alumnos con el nivel de Shinpiden: el Sr. Ushida, Sr. Taketomi, Sr. Watanabe y el Sr. Kondo. El Dr. Chujiro Hayashi fue instruido por esta primera generación de maestros Reiki.

Tras la muerte de Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi se independizó formando la asociación HAYASHI REIKI KENKYUKAI. Tiempo después Hawayo Takata fue a Japón desde Hawai para recibir tratamiento medico para una enfermedad grave, se curó por completo gracias a los tratamientos de Reiki, y empezó aprender este milenario arte de curación de Chujiro Hayashi. Mas tarde Chujiro Hayashi viajó a Hawai para dar conferencias sobre Reiki y nombra a Hawayo Takata maestra, quien continuo trabajando con sanación Reiki en Hawai formando 22 maestros. Ella fue la primera en practicar y difundir Reiki en occidente.

El Dr. Usui es descrito por el Sr. Frank Arjava Petter en su libro: Reiki, The Legacy of Dr. Usui and Reiki Fire como una persona cálida, humilde, sencilla, saludable, siempre con una sonrisa en su rostro, con un espíritu fuerte para enfentar las adversidades, le gustaba leer y su conocimiento sobre medicina, psycologia, , teologia y religiones del mundo era muy extenso. Este habito continuo de adquirir conocimiento, le ayudaba a percibir y entender Reiki.

En la actualidad, hay miles de maestros de Reiki en todo el mundo dentro de las dos líneas, occidental y japonesa. Este arte de Energía Universal ha sido muy difundido por todas las escuelas esotéricas y orientales y ha seguido desarrollandose.

Reiki Occidental es caracterizado por una colaboración activa con las instituciones medicas, como una técnica complementaria eficaz para la medicina convencional. Reiki Occidental está consiguiendo resultados excepcionales en la sanación de la mente y el cuerpo.

Hay un gran numero de escuelas que han incorporado Reiki con diversas formas de meditacion cuya finalidad es elevar la consciencia del practicante; y aunque cada una tiene sus formas de enseñarlas y se le nombra según su cultura, la esencia del arte de curación Reiki, nunca se pierde.
